deadlines don't care about diagnoses 😅

i've don't talk about this often

Mostly because it’s a benign condition, I’ve learned to live with. But lately, it’s been very active. And very painful. And very inconvenient.

Enter: Dyshidrotic eczema.
(Aka pompholyx, if you want to be fancy about it.)

It’s a type of eczema that causes tiny, itchy, fluid-filled blisters on your hands and feet. They’re miserable, they’re ugly, and they’ve taken up permanent residence on my right hand for the past six weeks.

At first, I thought they were clearing up. Until one day… they weren’t.

Now they’ve spread across every finger on my right hand, a few on the left, and my right ankle for good measure.

And yes, they hurt. Even typing has been rough. But I’ve got deadlines, and I’m not the type to let a chronic skin condition take me out (even when maybe it should 😅).

I was first diagnosed back in 2017 after my hands got so bad I couldn’t even feed myself. Seven doctors later, the best they could offer was a shrug and a theory: maybe it’s a fragrance allergy?

Cool cool cool.

Except I’ve avoided fragrance for eight years. So why now?

No idea. But it’s been a reminder I wasn’t expecting…

🌊 The Problems You Can’t See Are Still Causing Damage 🌊

Just because something isn’t visible doesn’t mean it’s not affecting everything behind the scenes.

My hands looked fine at first. Until one day, they weren’t.

And ofc, the email nerd in me realized the parallels that your list is the same.

By the time you notice a big drop in opens or clicks, your readers have probably been disengaging quietly for weeks.

Just because no one’s unsubscribing doesn’t mean everything’s working.

Sometimes, the real damage starts long before the symptoms show up.

That’s why I always recommend treating your list like you would your health: Check in.

Watch for small shifts. Don’t wait until it’s a full-blown flare-up to do something about it.

🛠️ Your 5-Minute Challenge 🛠️

Take a quick peek at the last 3 emails you’ve sent:

  • Did open rates drop by more than 2%?
  • Are link clicks concentrated in only one section?
  • Are fewer people replying than usual?

These are early signs your list might be drifting.

Then open up your copy of 52 Un-Boring Email Content Ideas and pick one prompt that feels unexpected but true. Use it to bring your next send back to life. Because sometimes, all it takes is one email to reconnect with the right people.

✨ Bonus: Think you know which prompt inspired this email? Hit reply and tell me. One random guesser will win a 30-minute strategy session with me. ($125 value). Deets in the Final Brief below.

Reading: I'm currently forcing myself to finish The Power of One More. Usually, I'd mark this as a DNF, but it's a godawful book, written in huge font to make it look longer, that I bought 3+ years ago. All he does is regurgitate HTWF&IP and Atomic Habits (two books I actually do like) and puts a "faith-based" spin on the concepts.

Listening: I found this self-published artist who does a lot of content around ADHD brains, and I truly adore her music. It's a little heavier, but the lyrics are just pure gold. It's a shorter album called RESTORATION & "SORRY I'M LATE" is def my favorite.

Wellness Goal: Wake. Up. On. Time. My insomnia has been kicking my a$$ lately, so I bought cranberry juice so I can start making my Sleepy Girl Mocktail (with magnesium) on the regular again. Wish me luck!!! 🤞🏼

Obsessing Over: Anything and everything gay because it's PRIDE MONTH!! 🏳️‍🌈 I recently had the pleasure of working with a femme-founded jewelry brand, forever femme, and I 10/10 would recommend getting a piece to go with all your cute outfits this month! 😍

First Pride event of the season!! (bonus points if you spot me 🤪)

It was an absolute blast, and I cannot wait to attend more events!!

You already know the deal with the weekly prompt game, so if you’ve got a guess for this one, hit reply and take your shot!

You might just win a free 30-minute strategy session with me. And yes, if you're the only one who replies... it's an automatic win.

A few other things while I have you:

1. Got an email question or content roadblock you're stuck on?
I'm building out a free resource vault to help you actually enjoy writing emails again. Tap reply and tell me what you'd love to see included.

2. I'm hiring!

Edition #132 Thursday, June 26th, 2025 the client that made me question everything ↓ She wasn’t my first client. But she was the first one who made me question if I was truly cut out for being a service provider. I charged her $1250 for what should’ve easily been a $5K project. Red flag #1. She critiqued everything I did, like I was some corporate employee, not a hired creative who knows her sh*t. Red flag #2. And when I told her I'd be off the grid for my first ever real vacation, I made...

money being flying around a chair bc she made bank on her flows

Edition #131 Thursday, June 12th, 2025 she left me on read for 8 months... ↓ (Not in a shady way. Just in a “not now” kinda way.) I sent the cold pitch anyway. Because I genuinely love her jewelry. And I knew I could help, if (when!) she needed it. No pressure, no “let me pick your brain” weirdness. Just a friendly note, a few ideas, and a hope that she’d remember my name even if she wasn’t ready. Fast forward a few quarters, and she wanted to hear more. Yay!! So we got to work. I dug deep,...

Image of my skincare obsessions from cocokind

Edition #129 Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 ya know what I’ll never shut up about? ↓ My skincare routine. Specifically, my cocokind lineup: It’s nothing wild, just a rotating mix of 9 products that somehow still make my skin look like I drink 8 glasses of water (which I do) and sleep 10 hours a night (but def don’t do this). (I also don't use ALL of them each time -- I only use a cleanser, serum, + moisturizer most days so they last even longer!) I’ve been using them for almost 2 years now. And even...
