i think it's time for a good one, don't you?

So I opened Hinge a few weeks ago… and there it is.

A message that’s definitely a copy & paste message.

But annoyingly? Kinda cute:

I responded (with a bit of sass, obviously):

But it somehow turned into planning a first date.

His idea? Strawberry picking at Lewis farms (A+ for effort)

My idea? Brunch at Blueberry's (sidenote: you NEED to go if you're ever in town!!)

Which led to me saying:

We set it for that Saturday. But me being me, I forgot to check the app for 4 days… 🫣

Soooo yeah, it was totally my fault when it didn’t happen.

But when I finally DID reply, he said:

We. Not you. Which was far more generous than I deserved.

Luckily, he gave me another shot, and the date? Easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

The weather? Gorgeous. The convo? Effortless.

The vibe? No games, no weird flexes. Just… surprisingly good.

At one point, he said I was great at telling stories.

And I couldn’t help but think: it’s not that the STORIES themselves were all that exciting (honestly, some were probably boring as hell).

It was how I told them. And the fact that he wanted to hear them.

That’s the secret to great emails, too.

You don’t need to sell harder or sound bigger or be impressive.

You just need to say something real to someone who actually cares.

And if you’re ready to do more of that?

This week’s email education is for you:

🌊 3 Non-Obvious Ways to Use Email 🌊

(aka how to make your list feel more like a two-way conversation, not like you're shouting into the void)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after 9+ years in marketing, it’s this:

No one will overthink your emails more than you will.

And ironically? That overthinking is usually what keeps the best stuff out.

Here are a few ways to loosen your grip and turn everyday thoughts into inbox moments your subscribers look forward to:

  1. Use your emails to test your messaging before a launch
Not everything has to be polished. Try floating an idea, sharing a thought that’s almost there, or giving people a sneak peek of what you’re working on. You’ll get replies, clarity, or both.
  2. Let your readers weigh in
Want to know what kind of content your audience really wants? Ask. Polls, A/B tests, link clicks are mini focus groups in disguise. Use them to your advantage!
  3. Build the kind of trust that turns skimmers into loyalists
Stories (yes, even the simple ones) build connection. You don’t need a big plot twist to make people care. You just need to show up with something real to say.

🛠️ Your 5-Minute Challenge 🛠️

Grab your free copy of the soon-to-be-released free resource: 52 Un-Boring Email Content Ideas and drop them into your Notion dashboard.

(one pre-launch tester said this: "The prompts are SO unique! I've subscribed to a LOT of freebies over the year for content ideas, prompts, subject lines, formulas, all that jazz, but these feel like a space between prompt + creative writing almost." so you KNOW it's a good one!!) [also, don't mind me blushing reading that 🥰]

Pick 4 prompts for your next month of emails, and make them yours. It was technically made for e-comm brands, but if you're service-based, it's an easy swap.

Bonus

Email me with your best guess at which prompt inspired this email. One lucky guesser will win a free 30-minute strategy session with me (a $125 value!).

All the deets are below in the Final Brief :)

Reading: I'm on book 2 in the Freida McFadden series, The Housemaid's Secret. If you're looking for a good series to get into & you like psych thrillers, this is a MUST READ. (especially since they're turning it into a movie starring Sydney Sweeney & Amanda Seyfried, coming out later this year!)

Listening: This podcast is a must-listen for any woman IMO: The Woman That Makes Millionaires: They're Lying About Work Life Balance! I Built SKIMS Without Fashion Knowledge! (S/O to Ashli inside The Do-ers Club for sharing this last week & getting me hooked!)

Wellness Goal: I started 75 hard yesterday! Partially, because it's so similar to my current goals/ habits, but slightly harder. But also for shits & giggles. I want to see what happens to my mindset by committing to something like this!

Obsessing Over: Oddly enough, content creation. I recently purchased a course on editing videos (because it's a skill that I've always wanted to hone). While I haven't posted anything yet, I am documenting my 75 Hard journey. I'll prolly post ~ a week behind but follow along to cheer me on??

Starting this week, I’m turning each edition of Email Paradise into a little game.

Every email I send will be inspired by one of the 52 storytelling prompts in the content idea bank. Some might be obvious. Some might be sneaky.

Your challenge? (should you choose to accept it)

Reply and guess which prompt I used. One winner gets a free 30-minute email strategy call with me. Yes, EVERY week.

If you’re the only one who replies that week & gets it right? Congrats, it's all yours.

So yes, you should probably go grab the prompts now.

Not just for the game, but because I’ll be using them all year to help you send emails that don’t sound like every other brand in your inbox.

OH & BTdubbs -- I’m quietly building a free resource vault packed with answers to the most common email questions to support my DIY-ers.

Some of them might become paid down the line (the feedback’s already coming in saying I should!), so you’ll want to grab them as they drop.

If you have a burning email query or issue you constantly face, reply & lmk. It might just become the next free resource. 👀

Always here when you need me,

P.S. Yes, that first date turned into more dates. And no, we probably won’t be dating long-term (he’s heading off for an 8-month deployment in July 🥺). But dang, he’s been a sweet reminder that good ones DO still exist.

Edition #137 Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 the backstabbing snake ↓ I won't lie, I’ve told this story more times than I can count. And not because I care about the guy, but because I needed validation that this was actually as shady as it felt. All I wanted was something casual, consistent, and chill. So I started "dating" someone I genuinely liked as a friend. Things were fine… until he caught deeper feelings. I reminded him of what we agreed on (aka: nothing serious). He responded by blocking...

Edition #136 Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 even tho i'm constantly rejecting him ↓ The other week, I was SO excited to spend some time with my male bsf (who I matched w/ on Tinder last Nov, but we both instantly agreed we'd make better friends than lovers) because I was fiiiinally gonna meet the girl he's seeing. His roommate came too, which was... fine. Except he'd been drinking since noon. And by 7 p.m., he was saying things like “it's cuz you’re just so cute” when it wasn’t even part of the...

Edition #135 Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 + they also happen to be my EASIEST. ↓ They're not a secret because I’m ashamed of them. But because they’re a corporate client in the healthcare industry. Not exactly aligned with the small biz, e-comm founder vibe I usually talk about here, ya know? Still, I adore the all-female team I support, and they’re my longest-running client for a reason. I landed the role purely through luck. A friend of a friend needed temporary coverage while someone was on...
